Posted the will of Pope Francis, was humble to the very end: ‘I want a simple grave …’

Pope Francis died on Monday, the day after Easter at the age of 89. His death has mourned believers around the world, and the Vatican has confirmed that the Pope has died of a stroke.

Now they have published on the official website his will, which we transmit in its entirety.

Feeling that the end of my earthly life and with a living hope of eternal life is approaching, I want to express my will to the place of my burial.

I have always entrusted my life and my priestly and episcopal service to the mother of our Lord, Moreover Mary. Therefore, I ask that my posthumous remains are waiting for the day of the resurrection at the Pontifical Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore – St. Mary the Great. I would like my last earthly journey to end up in this ancient Marian shrine where I went to prayer at the beginning and at the end of every apostolic journey to trust with my intentions of the Immaculate Mother and thank her for her treasure and motherly care.

I ask that my tomb be prepared in the niche of the side ship between the Pavlin Chapel (Chapel Salus populi Romani) and the chapel of Sforza above the Papal Basilica mentioned as stated in the attached document. GOB must be in the country; Simple, without particular decorations with the only inscription: Franciscus.

The cost of the preparation of my funeral will be covered by the sum of the benefactor, for which I organized to be transferred to the papal basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and what I gave the appropriate instructions of Msgr. Rolandas Makrickas, an extraordinary commissioner of the Liberian Chapter. The gentleman gives a well -deserved reward to those who loved me and who will continue to pray for me. I have brought the suffering that has become present in the last part of my life to the Lord for peace in the world and brotherhood among nations.

Santa Marta, June 29, 2022.

Francis
