Post is less punctual: Rösti wants to enable the yellow huge reduction in performance
Now only 90 percent of all packets and letters should have to arrive on time. In addition, the post should no longer have to supply around 60,000 households.
In doing so, post minister Albert Rösti wants to implement exactly the plans that he had already proposed “as a direction” last year. The National Council tried to stop Rösti’s plans, but the Council of States thwarted the parliamentary emergency brake. The national councilors emphasized that « equivalent care with public services regardless of the place of residence is a central element of cohesion in Switzerland ».
In a first statement, the Post itself generally reacts positively to the template – it has swin behind the scenes for the reforms. The state -owned company writes in a message about households that are no longer served: « The mail fundamentally welcomes this change proposal, since it would significantly increase efficiency in delivery. » For the people concerned, “alternative delivery solutions” would be created and the changeover would be introduced over a period of 10 years.
Post also sees only advantages with regard to punctuality. « For example, the new requirements would enable more scope and planning in logistics in the event of extraordinary events such as train failures or tunnel closures, » writes the post office.
Districting disagrees with National Councilor David Roth (SP/LU). On the Bluesky platform, he speaks of the « principle of snail mail », which is now moving in. « Three more letters and twice as many packages can now arrive unpunctually, » says Roth. The criticism of the households that are no longer served is also sharp: that is a new breakdown slope « which can be expanded as desired ». Roth believes that it would be Roth, it would be Rösti, « we would get the post in Härkingen ».
Now cantons and politics can comment on the plans of the Federal Council.
