Possible supercells of stormy and trumpets. Where will it be the worst?
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first degree warnings against storms, which can bring with them heavy rainfall, hail and dangerous wind gusts. Experts also do not exclude the formation of storm supercells that can generate air troops. Alerts are valid from 14.00 on Sunday to 2.00 am from Sunday to Monday.
Violent storms are coming over Poland
According to Piotr Szuster from the IMGW and the Polish Hunter Association, storms will develop as a result of the presence of a warm atmospheric front and low pressure bay. Phenomena can be strong, a in places even dangerous. Possible rainfall reaching up to 35 mm, gusts of wind up to 80 km per hour. and local hail rainfall.
Szuster also warns against the so -called Storm supercells-extremely strong storms that can bring a hail with a diameter of 2-3 cm and generate air truncles. Although the risk of flooding is small, point, heavy rainfall can lead to local lappings.
Tourists risk life. Appeal for immediate evacuation from the mountains
Jarosław Kret joined the dramatic appeal on TVP. He turned directly to tourists who, despite the warnings – are still in the Kasprowy Wierch area. « I am horrified that people go there, » he said live.
– There are more and more storm clouds there. If you have contact with anyone who circulates in the mountains, then please contact them to run immediatelybecause it can be very dangerous – he warned. He added that atmospheric discharges are already observed, among others in Mazovia and central Poland.
Weather experts warn that the storms in the mountains carry a special threat – due to the exposure of the area, sudden weather changes and the inability to reflect quickly. In such conditions, going out to the trail can end tragically.
Alerts apply in many regions
Weather warnings include almost the whole country, except for the north-eastern ends of the Podlasie and Warmian-Masurian voivodships. Particularly strong phenomena are forecast in Lesser Poland and southern Silesia – including in the following poviats: Nowotarski, Tatra, Cieszyn, Limanowski and Nowosądecki.
IMGW recommends caution, avoiding open spaces during a storm and tracking weather messages. During storms, it’s best to stay in a safe place, away from trees, energy poles and water reservoirs.
Time of storms is just beginning
Experts remind you that Poland is currently at the top of the storm season, which will last until October. June, after extremely cool May, brings conditions conducive to the formation of violent atmospheric phenomena. The influx of hot and moist tropical air increases the instability of the atmosphere, which in turn is an ideal environment for the development of strong storms.
« This air is rich in water vapor, which is fuel for storms, » explains Piotr Szuster.
Do not ignore the warnings
A warning of the first degree does not mean a disaster yet, but it should arouse vigilance. This is a signal that there may be phenomena that poses a real threat to health, life and property. IMGW encourages you to follow alerts and follow the recommendations of the services.
