Possible changes in the market: will European cars become cheaper?
There is no shortage of people in the car showroom. The buyers of the new vehicle are looking for before the summer holidays.
« As the weather warms, April, May, June – the very season of new cars, » said Justas Nekrošius, the head of the Volkswagen brand in the Baltic States.
And European brands can be even more out. After Trump’s trade war, car giants such as Volkswagen reduce export to the United States.
« Exports and the market are now being watched – how American consumers will respond, » explained J. Nekrošius.
This means that unsold cars will have to find new hosts here in Europe – and perhaps cheaper.
« If there is a big surplus and has no place to put, it can affect prices, » said Rokas Abloževičius, Director of Deals on Wheels.

Still, market professionals are calling for too much darling – no one promises a big price drop.
« The discounts will not be very big – 10 % if something is cheap. But something can increase – 10-15 %, » said Vismantas Baršys, CEO of Autopark.
« Discounts in the car world, if the product is to be encouraged, are between 2 and 7-8 thousand. Depending on what the situation will be, the next year may be, » said Justas Nekrosius, the Volkswagen brand manager in the Baltic States.
Discounts can be paused by the fact that America sells completely different cars than in Europe or Lithuania.
« In Lithuania, we sell half of the cars with rechargeable Volkswagen and Audi hybrids, while such cars are not in demand and popular in America, » said J. Nekrošius.
The European automotive industry itself does not have its profits. Although they face major challenges – lay off employees, reduce development, difficult to compete with Chinese production.
« But your wallet also influences it – no one wants to give up your marginal part, » said the DEALS ON WHEELS director.
« If the factory is producing its line and has a plan to make a large party but will not have to help – it will go down. But it takes a month, two, and the factory produces a completely different model, » said Autopark CEO.

And the president himself outside the Atlantic is unpredictable as the air. Imported cars introduced 25 percent. tariffs, later applied exceptions. Now talks about duties negotiations, just don’t name – with whom.
« Nobody understands. We negotiate with many countries, but after this agreement I will make transactions because I agreed – they did not agree. I said they cheated on us for many years.
« People are afraid of still buying, but there may be no customs duties. As I say, those duties will not be – America is trying to negotiate with everyone in this way: raising, canceling and so on, » said Vismantas Baršys, CEO of Autopark.
And here with American cars, a different situation.
Few of them arrive in Lithuania, but they arrive. And although the duties have not yet touched them, the sellers are already pulling out « manual » and buying less at the auctions – because they are afraid that they may become very expensive here.
« Used to be used, but their prices are low. The used car comes from America about € 10,000 worth of euros, which could rise to the end consumer one and a half thousand, if such a projected customs duty, » said AutoPark CEO.
Currently, Lithuanian -driven cars are dominated by European, and the most popular five Americans are not even available: Toyota, Škoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Nissan.
