Portuguese ask for priority action of the new government in housing and health

Health and housing are the areas that most worry the Portuguese and to which they appeal to a priority governing action. Citizens want effective policies in these areas that have concentrated a high number of complaints on the complaint, a platform responsible for this study.

Asked about the priorities of the next government – in the “Legislative 2025” opinion study by the complaint portal before the elections – the Portuguese were clear in the answer: investing in the National Health Service (NHS) and controlling housing prices. These areas were also pointed out by respondents as the most deteriorated over the past year, with health to lead with 71.8% of the answers, followed by housing, « revealing a widespread perception of decline in public services and living conditions. »

The analysis of the complaint portal, prepared between January 1 and May 17, « shows that these same areas concentrate a high volume of complaints, corroborating the urgent desire of the population for concrete changes. »

With regard to housing, 2,050 complaints have been filed since the beginning of the year and is the main concern of the Portuguese. More than 41%of complaints refer to the interruption of financial support by the Housing Institute and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU), while others report problems in service (22.09%), delays in order approval (17.35%) and lack of information on available supports (13.78%).

In health, there are 593 complaints. The main reasons include problems in customer service (38.62%), difficulties in appointment schedule (12.65%) and disabilities in service provision (10.96%). Institutions such as NHS, public hospitals and health centers are among the most targeted organisms.

But there are also problems with transport. Added 556 complaints registered. Delays in schedules (25.68%) and lack of quality and comfort in the service (21.88%) are the most reported problems. Also frequent complaints about misbehavior of drivers (18.63%) and technical failures (12.48%).

“This study reveals an unequivocal message from citizens: they want a government that acts urgently and effective in housing, health and public transport. Complaints mirror the daily reality of thousands of Portuguese and should be a guide for the definition of political priorities in the coming years,” says Pedro Lourenço, founder of the complaint portal.
