Many may remember Ananda Lewis as the woman with the warm smile and the sharp interviews that set the agenda on the TV screen in the 1990s.
Now she is dead – just 52 years old – after a long illness.

Ananda Lewis got her breakthrough as a TV host at MTV in the late 1990s, when she quickly became a permanent figure on screen and a distinctive voice in the youth culture.
A long battle against breast cancer
By 2020, Ananda Lewis revealed on Instagram that she had been hit by breast cancer.
She chose to share her illness in public – not to get pity, but to inspire other women to have mammographs done.

Her death was confirmed by the sister in a post on social media where she wrote:
« She’s free and in his heavenly arms. Lord, give her soul rest. »
