Pope’s message beyond death

Determined, but simple in life and, as well, beyond death. Pope Francis’s written testament reveals the thing that everyone expected. The pontiff did not want luxury and opulence even after death.

Feeling that the sunset is approaching my earthly life and, with a living hope in eternal life, I want to express my testamentary will only in terms of my burial place.

I have entrusted my life and my priestly and episcopal ministry to the Virgin Mary, the Most Holy Mary. Therefore, I ask that my earthly remains to rest waiting for the day of resurrection in the papal basilica Santa Maria Maggiore (Saint Mary the Great, from Rome – no).

I want my last earthly journey to end in this Sanctuary Marian Ancienti, where I went for prayer at the beginning and end of any apostolic journey to trust my righteous Mother’s intentions and thank them for the docile and maternal care. I ask that my tomb will be prepared in the niche of the side ship, between the Paulin chapel (the chapel of the Romanian populi) and the Chapel Sforza, from the mentioned papal basilica, as indicated in the adjacent attachment. The tomb must be in the ground, simply, without any special ornament and with a single inscription: Franciscus.

The expenses for the preparation of my funeral will be paid with the sum of the benefactor I disposed of and which was transferred to the papal basils Santa Maria Maggiore, for whom I took care to give the instructions to monster Rolandas Makrickas, extraordinary commissioner of the Liberian chapter.

May the Lord give them the deserved reward for those who have held me and will continue to pray for me. The suffering that was made present in the last part of my life I offered the Lord for peace in the world and the fraternity between the people.
