Pope Leon XIV called his brother when he gave an interview

Just a few hours before this event, John could still not believe in a picture broadcast on television: his brother appeared on the famous balcony and took the name Leon XIV. Soon, press representatives who wanted to get to know the man taking up the highest office in the Catholic Church appeared in front of the Prevost’s door.

Pope Leon XIV called his brother when he gave an interview

One of the reporters with whom the host agreed to talk, he was Obed Lamas from the Associated Press. During the interview, the phone bell spoke, and John suggested that maybe the newly elected Pope was calling. However, he did not manage to pick up, but noticed that he had several missed connections from his brother. He called up to the Pope, switching to the speaker. Lama recorded everything with his cell.

– Why don’t you answer the phone? – Pope said before his brother John managed to speak.

– First you need to know that you are on the air now. This is the first time I hear the phone is ringing

John explained. – Now? Leon XIV asked. « That’s right now, » he heard in response.

Like typical siblings …

The exchange of sentences lasted only a few minutes, during which the brothers managed to discuss the most important messages and plan John’s arrival to Rome in the coming week. Despite the now papal function, they talked like typical siblings.
