Pope Leo XIV calls for the « end of war » on his first Sunday message
Pope Leo XIV called to the great world powers for the « end of the war » on his first Sunday message to the set of St. Peter Square after his election as Pontiff.
The new pope, selected on May 8, called for « real and lasting peace » in Ukraine and the cessation of fire in the gas and the release of all Israeli hostages. Leo also welcomed the recent cessation of the fire between India and Pakistan and said that he was praying to God to give the world the « miracle of peace ».
