Pope Leo today exposed the vision of his papacy, identifying artificial intelligence as one of the most critical issues facing mankind.
At its first official audience, the new Pope made it clear that it would continue the reform initiated by its predecessor Francis to modernize the papacy, in order for the Catholic Church to become an inclusive, caring church that cares for the most self -esteem.
Quoting Francis repeatedly, he told the cardinals who chose him to be fully committed to the reforms of the second Vatican Council, the meetings in the 1960s that modernized the church. He has identified artificial intelligence as one of the fundamental problems facing humanity, saying it sets the challenges before the protection of human dignity, justice and work.
The Pope referred to artificial intelligence explaining his choice in the name: his name Leo 13th, which led the Church from 1878 to 1903, laid the foundations of modern Catholic social thought. He did so in his encyclical Rerum Novarum since 1891, which investigated workers’ rights and capitalism at the beginning of the industrial era.
« Today, the Church offers all the treasury of its social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and development in the field of artificial intelligence, which pose new challenges before the protection of human dignity, justice and work, » Pope Leo said.
