Festive ceremony
On Saturday night, the watch is held in St. Peter’s Basilica, led by Giovanni Battista, dean of the Cardinal Board. Vigils starts from the foyer of St. Peter’s Basilica, where the fire is blessed and prepared for the Easter candle, that is, the cross, the Greek letter of the alpha and the Ómega and this year. The candle is then lit.
Priests and believers move to the altar on the main ship of the basilica. St. Peter’s Basilica, full of believers, will be completely silent and in the dark, only illuminated by the candles in the hands of those present. When the lights are turned on, the bells of the Basilica ring and return from Rome to the temples of the world, which have been silent in the last three days. The ceremony gives three adults, two Italians and one albanum in the sacrament of baptism.
