Pope Francis leaves the hospital on Sunday, he will greet the believers
After five weeks spent at the Gemelli Hospital Center, Pope Francis, 88, leaves the hospital on Sunday, his doctors confirmed.
Eighty -eight -year -old Pope was admitted to the hospital on February 14 with a severe respiratory infection that required further treatment. He was seen only once during his stay in the hospital, in a photo posted by the Vatican last week, and shows the Pope for prayer at the hospital chapel.
Pope Francis plans to appear in public on Sunday for the first time after hospitalization, and wants to reach a hospital window around noon on Sunday to welcome and bless the assembled, according to the Vatican in a short statement on Saturday. The Holy Father no longer uses a respirator during the night. They added that the Pope’s condition was improved, although one official said he could « learn to speak » after prolonged oxygen flow of prolonged therapy.
– The pope is very good, but the high oxygen flow drains everything. He must learn to speak again, but his general physical condition is as before – Cardinal Victor Fernandez said on Friday, Reuters reports.
The Pope usually takes a weekly prayer on Sundays at St. Peter’s Square. He last did so on February 9, shortly before he ended up in the hospital.
Pope Francis spent almost 12 years as head of the Roman Catholic Church. Throughout his life, he had a number of health problems, including removing a part of the lungs at the age of 21, making it more susceptible to infections.
