Pope Francis blesses the faithful – for the first time appears without oxygen device

Pope Francis greeted and blessed the faithful today at noon, at St. Peter’s Square at Vatican.

Franciscus wished « Good Sunday of the Holy Week » to the pilgrims and tightened the hands of priests, nuns and believers from all over the world.

The pope was moved by wheelchair and, for the first time, did not use oxygen.

Second appearance of the Pope

The appearance in the Vatican was the second of the 88 -year -old Pope since he was discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he fought double pneumonia for more than a month.

He was admitted to the hospital on February 14th for a crisis of bronchitis that developed into double pneumonia.

It was a particularly serious condition for him, as he had a young adult and had removed part of one lung.

Francis arrived so close to death during his 38 -day stay in the hospital where his doctors thought of ending the treatment to die calmly, the leader of his medical medical said last month.

Doctors had prescribed a two -month rest period at his residence in the Vatican after leaving the hospital to allow his body to heal.

It is not yet known how much it will participate in the forthcoming Holy Week – the most important week in the church calendar, which is full of functions and events.
