Poll. Flirted with the electoral threshold, one real winner and a growing gorge: that’s how the voter would vote today

Only good news for Prime Minister Bart De Wever (N-VA) and his Arizona coalition this week. From the first results of The moodthe opinion investigation of The standard and VRT NWSit turned out that the vast majority of Flemish people agree with the most important measures of the federal government. Today it also appears that the government parties are particularly good from the accompanying poll, certainly on the Flemish side. The poll was taken at 5,884 Belgians in the period 3 to 24 March.

The N-VA remains the largest party in the country. Where the party could still seduce 25.6 percent of the Flemish in the June ’24 elections, the Flemish nationalists now score 25 percent. In doing so, the electoral investigation must consider the group of undecided as a separate category. 7.2 percent of the sample surveyed therefore do not count and may still be divided among the parties in the elections.

For the N-VA it is especially positive that the gap with Vlaams Belang grows. The first pursuer knows for the time being 19.1 percent of the Flemish. In the elections that was still 21.8 percent. In the popularity poll (see below) The same power relationship. Prime Minister De Wever stands head and shoulders above it. Tom van Grieken (Vlaams Belang) ends second, but at an ever -increasing distance.

Third party in the poll it is Ahead by chairman Conner Rousseau. The socialists are rewarded for their government participation. They score in the poll 13.7 percent. More than 13 percent of the elections. Taking into account the distribution of the undecided, Vooruit may prepare itself for a nice profit for the time being.

Also CD&V Does not see voters dropping due to their entry into De Wever-I. Chairman Sammy Mahdi gets 12.7 percent of the Flemish behind his party. That is about the same as in the elections. Although that was of course the worst result ever for his party.

The two opposition parties PvdA and Groen follow at a serious distance. It PvdA Van Raoul Hedebouw scores with 8.3 percent Slightly better than in the elections, but the increase is certainly not significant. Green must then be satisfied with 6.8 percent. In June ’24 they still achieved 7.5 percent.

The most painful result in this poll is for Open Vld. In the elections, former Prime Minister Alexander De Croo still had to go through the dust for the barslechte result of 8.7 percent. In this poll, the new chairwoman Eva De Bleeker is still fallingfurther to 5.3 percent. The voting threshold of 5 percent comes dangerously close.

Popularity

The opinion investigation, conducted by Professor Political Science Stefaan Walgraeve (Uantwerpen), also asked the respondents from which politician they feel best represented. In Flanders, Prime Minister leaves Bart De Wever (N-VA) notes a sample score of 22 percent. Striking, De Wever is also high in Wallonia. Just as high as PS chairman Paul Magnette. He must only let Georges-Louis Bouchez (1), Raoul Hedebouw (2) and Maxime Prévot (3) lead.

In Flanders, De Wever easily holds Vlaams Belang chairman Tom Van Grieken off. Van Grieken scores 4.8 percent, a lot less than in earlier similar polls. Vooruit chairman Conner Rousseau Complete the top three by 4 percent. In place four Petra de Suttera loss for the Greens that she will soon close the door of politics behind them. Flemish Minister of Education Zuhal Demir (N-VA) ends in fifth place.

Government Party CD&V will join the fact that it has five politicians in the top 20. Another striking but very painful finding: Open VLD has only one politician in that top 20. Former prime minister De Croo closes the ranking. Although there is one liberal that scores better, albeit a French -speaking person. Bouchez is in 16th place in the Flemish ranking.

Wallonia

The survey results in Wallonia are less news for the Arizona government. Especially the MR Van Georges-Louis Bouchez has to lose in front of the elections. Of 21.3 percent Is it a significantly lower level than the election result of 28.2 percent. It is important that the group of undecided (11 percent) is larger than in Flanders. Bouchez even has to go back the Ps let Magnette go before. The socialists score again in Wallonia 21.6 percent.

Third party Les Engagés then stabilizes again 17.8 percent. Opposition party PTB Grows striking. They get 14.8 percent. The Green Party Ecolo Dangles at the back of 5.9 percent.
