Politics and personal life cannot be separated. Festival Touches and Connections has a strong program

BRATISLAVA. The theater festival Doty and connections will take place this year in the second half of June in Martin and will present the best that the theater season in Slovakia has brought. The jubilee 20th year, which takes place from 16 to 21 June, will have more than twenty productions, of which ten selection will be presented in the main program.

What productions are, how do they choose and what is the visitors of the festival?

The program was selected from over ninety productions

A dozen productions of the main program are thematically and formally very diverse and will present the creation of the Slovak National Theater and the independent scene.

The creators and creators from Bratislava will play, NitraPrešov and home Martin.

« The program is greatly dominated by productions with a strong author’s deposit, including the creation of a textual model or scenario. Either it is the original adaptations of the literary work or the author’s productions that directly or indirectly respond directly to current events in our company, » says program director Monika Michnová.

Together with theater critics Dária F. Fehérová, Diana Pavlatková and musician and dramaturg Róbert Mankovecký chose from more than ninety productions.

Among the most anticipated will be undoubtedly the production of director Dušan Pařízka dog on the road from the Slovak National Theater. She won the 2024 board award for the best direction and the best production of the season as well as the Grand Prix at the New Drama/ New Drama festival.

Thanks to its unusual form, the escape from paradise for director Elizabeth Vrzgula brings three different versions of the story in which the normalization policy mixes with the personal life of three women and is happening in seemingly impersonal spaces. Director Júlia Rázusová will also bring an interesting combination of big and small history in the Outcast production. She was inspired by the memoirs of Stefan Zweig the world of yesterday. They came out shortly after the author’s suicide and today they are sadly up -to -date reading. Zweig describes in them through his personal experience of the artist describes the transformation of a peaceful and sleepy 19th century to a drastic reversal of the twentieth century. He writes about work, family, a variety of social strata, but he never remembers his two wives.

Director Rázusová undoubtedly provoked this fact to a new perspective. The life of a proud outrage and all the parallels that his biographical novel brings in the hands of two actresses.

The Domestic Slovak Chamber Theater Martin will perform with the production As a Jeleň you will go there, which shows the foundations of Hviezdoslav’s Hajnikova woman shows carpet plundering of nature, women and everyone who cannot defend themselves. After a long time, productions from the Andrej Bagar Theater in Nitra and Theater will also be presented at the festival Jonáš Záborský in Prešov.

The festival is for the whole family

In addition to the main program, the program for a young audience is also an important part, which proves at the festival for a long time that this work is of a high level in Slovakia.

« The festival selection shows that the theater for high school students may not be educational, instructed or warning. It can reflect the survival of a demanding adolescence or be artist and invite to the experience of a traditional idea of ​​the theater performance. Two productions from the program are determined by children from elementary schools. or new circus to the theater. The productions for the young audience from Nitra, Bratislava, Martin and Žilina will be presented. It is the Žilina production of Empathy director Lukáš Brutovský is one of the peak of this section.
