« Politico »: Bulgaria has supported a letter to the EU for a new peace approach in Ukraine

Bulgaria is among 15 European countries that insist on a new EU approach to reach peace in Ukraine. This is reported by Politico, referring to a letter that will be sent on Monday on their behalf to EU Foreign Foreign Policy Representative.

The letter is an initiative of Austria and urges the EU to engage the countries that the Kremlin considers friendly in the effort to achieve peace. It is expected to be handed to her before the Tuesday meeting of Foreign Ministers and to the EU defense ministers in Brussels, which is almost entirely dedicated to the war in Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, it is signed by Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Austria.

Currently, the EU is betting on an approach that Ukraine should be maximally reinforced military, economically and politically in order to take better negotiating positions if peace talks with Russia begin. As a prerequisite for these conversations, it is the acceptance of unconditional and complete cessation of fire for 30 days.

According to Austria, Europe must engage with the BRICS countries such as Brazil and India, hoping that they can persuade Moscow to stop their attack on Ukraine. Only countries that Russia knows and trusts can have some influence on Putin, is said in Vienna’s arguments.
