Political suicide
Democrats cautiously open the door to another candidacy of (Kamala) Harris in 2028, ‘he can read the title of news of The Hill on Monday. Would there be a better way for the Democratic Party to declare his political suicide than to present Kamala Harris again in his presidential ticket? With the last election still well present in the minds of Americans, and whose lessons do not exactly require an above average political understanding capacity, how can such a possibility be even considered?
If you materialize, it would be just the second attempt to get to the White House after a defeat since Richard Nixon’s candidacy in 1968. The first was Donald Trump’s most recent, with the important difference that the latter had already been president. Hillary Clinton is a good example that recent history gives us. The former first lady did not compete in 2020 after the election in 2016 was clearly failed. And it is important to remember that Clinton won the popular vote for 3 million. Harris lost for more than 2 million, lost the majority in the Senate and still lost electorate in virtually every sectors, from African Americans to Latinos. Joe Biden’s former vice-president was also unable to deliver a coherent program, based on her short election campaign in an anti-Trump rhetoric and sometimes more intensely, sometimes less, a woke ideology amplifier.
Some Democrats, such as Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, quoted in The Hill’s play, believe that Harris « did not benefit » a complete campaign, having been the presidential candidate for about three months. And perhaps this short temporal space was why it could not cement a platform that could distance it from Joe Biden or the fact that the party, and the, of course, tried to cover up the evident physical and cognitive decline of the then incumbent. Or isn’t it?
According to a « prominent Democrat », quoted by journalist Peter Savodnik in an X publication, what happened was precisely the opposite. « Democrats like to think that Harris has lost because he didn’t have enough time to present his argument, » but the truth is that « lost because he had too much time. » The last sentence of this source is especially overwhelming: « If only voters knew less about it, it could have gotten a victory. »
On November 5, 2024, through the defeat of Kamala Harris, the Woke platform suffered a hard blow. But, on the same date, and especially since January 20 and April 2, 2025, other aspects – and these far more important to the United States than Wokism – also brought a strong ax. Donald Trump and his economic vudu that can soon lead Americans to a recession and a widespread increase in prices as a result, mostly, of their mercantilist trade policy, is opening the oval room door to a Democrat in 2028. But only to a Democrat who is more Bill Clinton or John F. Kennedy than Bernie Sanders or Alexia Occasion. A presidency that underlines the importance of the United States as the main power-or empire-that reinforces power and benefits from free market and rejects a « kim-jong-unization » of the most important position in the free world.
Therefore, if at the same time as Trump opens the doors to a change in 2028 the Democratic Party opens its doors to a Kamala Harris recall, the door of power will close, either with a crash or ‘cautiously’, in the face of democrats who would be committing a political suicide as it has not been seen in American politics.
