Polish Foreign Minister sharply criticizes Russia’s aggression / day
Sikorski described the difficult situation in which Poland is in the light of war in Ukraine and its expansion threats, and expressed concern about the disruption of the Unity of the West.
When you turn to Russian leaders, he asked, « Don’t you have enough land? Eleven time zones and still not enough? Take care to better manage what is within your borders, according to international rights. »
« There is an anxiety and a question about what will happen next. Are we threatened with Russian aggression? Is the relations between Europe and the United States approaching the crisis? Can Europe quickly improve its defense capabilities? » Asked the minister, describing the atmosphere in the community.
Poland and European Allies are trying to strengthen their defense, fearing that Russian aggression will not stop in Ukraine, while US President Donald Trump’s administration suggests that Europe has to take more responsibility in the field of security.
Although Sikorski did not name Trump, he indirectly criticized the US president for concession to Russia in his efforts to end the war.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has stated that Ukraine « should not start » Russia’s war and questioned the legitimacy of President Volodimir Zelensk’s government. Trump has also stepped back from the long -term US position to isolate Russia due to its aggression and has begun direct talks with Moscow. Trump’s statements have often been surprisingly similar to the Kremlin narrative.
« The biggest threat to Poland would be the collapse of the Western community. So we cannot afford the illusion or inaction. We cannot afford to stay alone, » Sikorski emphasized. He warned Russia: « You will never control here again – neither in Kiev, nor in Vilnius, in Riga, in Tallinn or Chisinau. »
Sikorski also pointed out that the situation on front lines in eastern Ukraine and south is unclear and that Russia pays for the slow progress of its forces with huge losses.
After three years of war, Putin had planned for three days, Russian troops controlled only about 20% of Ukrainian territory and still stuck in Eastern Ukraine, the minister recalled.
« It is estimated that the war has already cost Russia at least $ 200 billion, and nearly a million Russian soldiers have been eliminated on the battlefield. The losses of Ukrainians are lower and they have not allowed the capture of their capital or the introduction of the Marionet government, » the Polish Foreign Minister emphasized.
