Police warn the Danes before the summer: be on duty

Imagine the following: You get walking on the street a nice, hot summer day, and a woman is approaching and offers you to buy some necklaces. You politely thank you, but the woman still puts a necklace around your neck so you can just try it. After that, the woman leaves the place in a hurry. You take you to your throat and discover that your own expensive necklace has disappeared from your neck.

Such a review received Southeast Jutland Police yesterday on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

« We know from experience that summer is the season for the type of trick theft on the open street, where people are somehow cheated and stolen, » says Police Inspector Michael Weiss of Southeast Jutland Police.

Other trick thefts we experience more of in the summer

There are also other types of trick thefts and scams that Southeast Jutland Police see more of when it’s summer.

For example, it may be people in resting places who say they have run out of gasoline and would like to borrow a smaller amount or mobile so they can call for help, but who instead get rid of your money and mobile phone.

It can also be people with what they call « surplus goods », such as expensive suits, in the car’s trunk. Experience shows we are often talking to copy products or heel goods.

An entirely different example we see in the summer is people who offer to put asphalt for cheap money in your driveway, but leaves you with a poor result and a bill that does not match the offer.

« Creativity is great, which is why we encourage people to pay extra attention in the coming time. Always call the police if you find that you have been exposed to trick theft or other forms of scams. Please notice what the people and vehicles look like you can describe them to us. A detailed signal element can be crucial to our investigation of the case, » says Police Inspector Michael Weiss.
