Police Vat offender who strikes 20 cars in the city center: « Portfolio that we had forgotten at the seat is still there » (inland)
In Hasselt, a man damaged around twenty cars on the Kleine Ring, on the Havermarkt and in Cellebroedersstraat on Thursday morning. It’s about pure vandalism.
With everything that was somewhat findable and portable in the Streets of Hasselt and on construction sites in the city center, the perpetrator badly damaged around twenty cars in the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
Stone
« We have a heavy stone, with which fencing is secured on the floor, through the rear window, » says one of the victims in the Cellebroederstraat. « There was a portfolio on the front seat that we had forgotten, and it is still there. So it’s really about pure vandalism. »

That vandalism runs like a common thread through the ‘walk’ that the perpetrator made in the city. « You can almost follow the track, » says another injured person. “Our car is really seriously damaged. Not only the rear window is shattering, that seems to be just about the fixed grid. But the bodywork of our car is also broken and distorted. That also does not have to be surprised if you use this caliber of stones. Moreover, it should be a powerful person, because I would never get a stone from a height of a meter.”
« It is actually unlikely that this man has been hit that far, » says Bert, who woke up with the event. « If you destroy about twenty cars, you are on the road for a while. Certainly because new ‘material’ always had to be sought. »
The perpetrator was arrested just after the facts. The LRH police are conducting the investigation. Parket Limburg was informed.
