Police hold a suspicious shooting that killed three people in Sweden
Swedish police announced on Wednesday that they detained a person on suspicion of having been the author of the shots who victimized three young people aged 15 and 20 on Tuesday night in Uppsala.
« A person suspected of murder has been arrested, » police commander Erik åkerlund told a press conference. Three people died on Tuesday at a UPPSala shooting, about 60 kilometers north of Stockholm, Swedish police said in a new episode of violence in the Nordic country.
« Three people have died, but their identities have not yet been confirmed, » France-Presse (AFP) magnus Jansson Klarin, spokesman for the city police. « We received reports from a masked person in a scooter and we are checking this information, » he added.
According to various reports of the local media, the shooting took place in a hairdresser in the city center, with witnesses reporting several shots.
In the gang war, shooters are increasingly adolescents hired as killers for being under 15 years, the age of criminal liability in Sweden.
Swedish police reported in January that the number of shootings decreased by 2024 for the second year in a row, with 296 shootings, a 20% drop from the previous year.
