The Leuven police flashed a bus from De Lijn last weekend, which drove 77 km/h in a zone 50. The bus also drove the highest speed of all offenders.

The violation was determined during a major traffic control of the Leuven police on Saturday evening. The flash car was set up on the Tiensesteenweg. A total of 352 vehicles were checked there, of which 23 drivers reason too quickly. The highest speed was 77 km/hour in a zone 50, noted at a De Lijn bus. « It was an empty bus that drove back to the depot just before midnight without passengers, » said Marc Vranckx.

The police also held flash controls with an anonymous vehicle on Tervuursesteenweg and the Naamsesteenweg. There, 461 vehicles were checked there, of which 114 drove too quickly. The highest speed was 54 km/hour in a zone 30. On the Naamsesteenweg, 283 cars were checked and three drove too fast. The highest noted speed was 66 km/hour in the zone 50.

During the promotion, a total of 578 drivers were also put on the side for an alcohol and drug test on the Tervuurssevest and smaller checkpoints spread throughout the territory. In A total of five drivers had drunk too much and one was under the influence of drugs. Of three of them, the driver’s license was withdrawn for fifteen days. Four passengers of a car that did not wear a belt were also verbalized.

Cocaine

On the Aarschotsesteenweg, a driver was checked who drove a car that was no longer insured or technically violated. The car was seized and towed to the store of the police. The same night a patrol caught a driver under the influence. The 40-year-old man from Antwerp tested positively on cocaine.
