Police ended the case of last year's fish death in Odra, the cause of poisoning was cyanide
« Criminalists from the Department of Economic Crime, who initiated criminal proceedings for suspicion of committing the crime of damage and threat to the environment from negligence, were taken over by the case, » said police spokeswoman Eva Michalíková.
She added that the criminalists eventually concluded that the fact was not fulfilled.
On the spot, the police registered about a dozen dead fish. « Experts found that the Odra River had entered a liquid containing zinc and cyanide. This fluid could flow from one nearby society through the Odra River. By checking, the fish have been shown that the fish have died on the combined zinc and cyanide action, » Michalikova said.
Added that criminalists have submitted file at the end of last week Czech Environmental Inspectorate (CEI) in Ostrava, which will continue to deal with the death. « But we haven't received the file yet. As soon as this happens, my colleagues have to study it. Then they will decide on the next procedure and possible penalty, » said CEIA spokesman Miriam Lužecká.

The frightened fish began to accumulate at the confluence of the Odra and the Černý brook in the Ostrava part of Přívoz 17 December. The source of pollution was apparently short -term, because other fish deaths no longer experienced firefighters.
« The firefighters went downstream and were looking for a place where they were no longer died. They were excluded from the wastewater treatment plant, the Borsodch chemical plant or the nearby coking plant. They ended up at the Odra Industrial complex, where several companies were located.
