Prievidza. Enviropoliation revealed the largest illegal dog breeding in Slovakia’s history.
During an event called the claw, which the police made in the districts of Prievidza and Partizánske, they found up to 853 illegally bred dogs and puppies during three house searches.
In cooperation with employees of the State Veterinary and Food Administration of the Slovak Republic and several regional veterinary and food reports, they attended interventions.
“Animals were intended for export and subsequent sale in ItalyGermany and Belgium. These were, for example, the breeds of cocker spaniel, spike, poodle, Maltese or Yorkshire Terrier and other crosses, « the police said at Facebook.
The owners kept the animals under inappropriate conditions, many were in poor health.
Up to three dogs kept in illegal breeding in a family house in the Prievidza district was confiscated by a measure of regional veterinary and food administration.
Igor Pod, Director of Prievidza veterinarians, did not want to comment on the case. « There is still a police investigation, for the time being I cannot provide more information, » he explained.
« Given the scope of the operations performed and the amount of seized live animals, this is the largest action focused on illegal breeding and the multiplication of dogs in the history of the Slovak Republic, » the police said.
