Police arrest eight ‘sovereigns’, found weapons and explosives

The police arrested eight people on Wednesday morning who are suspected of possession of weapons and hazardous substances. That reports the police in a press release. The police suspect that these people form a criminal network and « adhere to the anti-institutional ideas. » The suspects are placed in full limitations, which means that they can only have contact with their lawyer.

It would be sovereigns. These are people who do not recognize the authority of the government and refuse to adhere to laws and regulations. The arrests are the result of a large -scale police action that took place on Wednesday morning at several locations in the Netherlands.

The suspects live throughout the Netherlands and between 39 and 71 years old. In the searches, the police found, among other things, weapons, ammunition, narcotic drugs, telephones, possible explosives and other hazardous substances. A farmhouse in Ommen was searched, as well as buildings in and around Leeuwarden, the municipalities of Waadhoeke, Súdwest-Fryslân, Heerenveen, Vijfheerenlanden, Gilze and Rijen and Den Bosch, RTV Oost reports.

According to the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) In the Netherlands, there are several tens of thousands of people who adhere to the ideas of the sovereign movement, a small part of which is willing to use violence. Some ‘write out’ at the state with pseudo-legal letters and, for example, refuse to pay bills or fines. They are also over -represented in violence against bailiffs.

The investigation into the group is still in full swing, the police write. More arrests are not excluded.
