The police and the public prosecutor of East Flanders are investigating a possible arson, after a caravan burned out on Saturday evening. In the neighborhood, residents often complain about young people who cause a nuisance with fireworks.
The fire brigade was called around at 8.20 pm on Saturday evening for a fire behind a house on Koning Boudewijnlaan. There, a caravan in the backyard of the house suddenly turned out to be lit. The firefighters were on site almost immediately. Their new barracks are barely 200 meters from the location of the fire.
Due to their fast performance, the spray guests could avoid that the flames spread to the house. Due to the enormous heat development, the facade and the gutter of the house did damage. However, nothing was left of the caravan and content. The residents remained unharmed but were very shocked by the event. The caravan would have been there for 30 years.
The caravan and the home borders at the rear of the Hoedhaar site, where residents in the past have often been talking about vandalism and young people who cause a nuisance with fireworks.
Because arson was not excluded now, the public prosecutor appointed a fire expert to find out the cause. The police set a perimeter in the immediate vicinity.
