The second round of the Polish presidential elections in early June is not a sensation – with a very small lead as a winner and the next leader of the country became a long -standing party in the former but currently opposed party Law and justice (PIS) -backed independent candidate Conservative historian Karol Navrockis, Head of the National Institute of National Memory. Before the vote, both candidates – Navrock and his opponent’s ruling centrally liberal, pro -European Civic coalition Supported Warsaw mayor Rafal Tashkovsky – the chances were approximately similar. And it is already clear that Navrock’s victory will not lead to domestic political shocks, nor will it significantly affect the foreign policy course of Warsaw. However, his victory is a major blow to the Polish liberal forces, as he significantly increases the conservative chances of returning to power after two years (even earlier) in the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
