From Thursday, April 17, plug sun panels and batteries can be connected to the net in our country. That should be easily accessible, but « it is a disaster in organizational terms, » says consumer organization Testenskoop.

Plug-sun panels or plug-and-play sun panels are intended to generate and consume power quickly and easily. « In theory they should be accessible, but in practice they are unfortunately not, » says Tewelkoop spokeswoman Laura Clays.

For example, the consumer must check whether the panels he buys in the store or online are homologated and therefore safe. Before that, Synergrid, the federation of Belgian network operators, has listed the approved devices. However, that list is not really user -friendly. Moreover, it is the inverter that needs to be approved. And that information is not always easy to find when purchasing. « No doing for the average consumer. We are asking for work to work with labels that indicate whether the device is homologated, » says the consumer organization.

The purchase of a plug battery is also not evidence, concludes Testaartkoop. According to the consumer organization, this is not possible without the installation of an extra part – a sensor – in the electricity cabinet. That must be done by an electrician, which drives up the costs. « It is simply made difficult for consumers, » Teultoop says.
