Plenkovic: The suffering of children in the Homeland War shows the character of Greater Serbian aggression
During the Homeland War, 402 children were killed in Croatia, 28 of whom in Slavonski Brod, the city of the surgery of children war, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said in Slavonski Brod on Saturday, emphasizing that these suffering speak of the character of the aggression of the Greater Serbian regime on Croatia.
On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Killed and Straight Children in the Homeland War, May 3, Prime Minister Plenkovic and Minister of Croatian Veterans Tomo Medved, together with their parents killed and killed children, participated in Slavonski Brod at the ceremony of laying wreaths at the « Disrupted Childhood » monument.
The commemoration is organized by the Community of Associations of Croatian Civilians of the Homeland War of Croatia, with the support of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans.

During the Homeland War, 402 children lost their lives in Croatia, 28 of whom in Slavonski Brod, a city symbol of the war suffering of children in the Greater Serbian aggression in the 1990s. 33 years ago, on May 3, 1992, he was miserable of the most difficult war days in the history of Slavonski Brod when 16 people lost their lives in the attacks of an aviobiba, and seven people were killed in a family house in Jeas in Slavonski Brod – two women, one of whom were pregnant, and five children.
Prime Minister Plenkovic and the Government representatives paid tribute to the « interrupted childhood » monument at the Radic Brothers Promenade in Slavonski Brod, after which they visited the Church of the Holy Trinity, where the Prime Minister had the opportunity to speak with their parents killed by children who came from all over Croatia to Slavonski Brod.
– I thank the associations, primarily the parents and associations of the Homeland War Civilians, who have continuously commemorating the memory of all those who were very small at the time, and unfortunately, the large number of people who died in the Homeland War, above all Croatian veterans, soldiers, police officers, civilians and especially children. I would like to thank the presidents of the Community of Civil Victims of the Homeland War Julijana Rosandic for the engagement and especially thank the Vice -President of the Government and Minister of Croatian Veterans Affairs Toma Medved for the initiative to propose to the Croatian Parliament this year amend the Law on Holidays and Memorials – said Prime Minister Plenkovic.
He emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Croatia therefore included the 3rd May, as a memorial to all children killed in the Homeland War, which is celebrated for the first time this year.
– And that is why today’s laying of wreaths in front of the monument interrupted, and in some ways interrupted lives, not only those who are gone, but also the very traumatized lives of their families, was additionally symbolically – said Plenkovic.
On the target of an aggressor of a residential building, people in shelters, children at playgrounds
He emphasized that, unfortunately, the fact that no one was responsible for these suffering, and this is the problem of civilian victims of the Homeland War. He recalled that at the time of the Greater Serbian aggression against Croatian ‘targets were residential buildings, people in shelters, children at playgrounds’.
– It speaks of the character of the aggression of the Greater Serbian Milosevic regime against Croatia. These were no military goals that could be justified in any way, because the whole aggression, of course, could not be justified, but these were the most terrible crimes. Part is prosecuted, but unfortunately we have never brought such serious crimes to justice – said Prime Minister Plenkovic.
After Slavonski Brod, Prime Minister Plenkovic went to Vukovar.
Minister Tomo Medved continued his visit to Slavonski Brod as an envoy of the Prime Minister, where he participated in the Mass at the Holy Trinity Church and a commemorative program at the Slavonski Brod Music School.
