Plenkovic: No need to raise prices, one should look at the competitiveness of Croatia

On Saturday, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, on Saturday, commented on the latest macroeconomic projections of the CNB that we have to suppress inflation pressure, and that there is no need for prices to raise prices in the context of the tourist season because it should be viewed on the competitiveness of Croatia.

« Last year, we had the strongest tourist season – 21.7 million arrivals, 110 million overnight stays, EUR 15 billion in revenue from tourism with Time related activities, » Prime Minister Plenkovic told reporters ahead of the ceremonial presentation of the monograph on Ratko Rudic, in Zagreb’s Lauba.

He pointed out that he believes that all those involved in the tourist sector will be very wise and smart in the formation of prices, because that is how guests attract guests.

« Because they have other seas, they have other beaches, they have islands and coasts and offer and culture and heritage. Therefore, we are not the only one as a destination and therefore one has to be very wise in prices politics, » Plenkovic said, adding that he then has direct repercussions and the inflation rate.

We need to suppress inflationary pressure

Croatian National Bank Governor (CNB) Boris Vujcic said on Saturday that he expects a trend of slowing inflation on an annual basis to continue to continue, and that it should be 2.2 percent next year, which is around the target level. The CNB predicts that the Croatian economy will grow by 3.3 percent this year, and the next by 2.9 percent, while inflation should be 2.8 percent in this 2.2 percent in 2026.

Prime Minister Plenkovic said they also have their projections. The government said the growth would be 3.2 percent and inflation about 2.7 percent. The European Commission also predicted the growth of Croatia 3.2 percent, he noted.

« You have seen this GDP growth of 2.9 percent in the first quarter, it is about somewhere from the best data at EU member states, it is twice higher than the EU average. And what we have to do is suppress inflation pressure, » Plenkovic said.

According to Vujcic, the expected GDP growth rate, although lower than last year when the economy grew by 3.9 percent, is still strong, with growth relies on homemade demand, which mirrors in personal consumption and inflow from European funds.

After these local elections we have « very bad losers »

Prime Minister Plenkovic again referred to the reporter of the controversial ballot in Zadar, which, after yesterday’s decision of the Constitutional Court, had lost one term in the City Council and now there are 12 of them.

« What is important that this Zadar episode is essentially nothing, whether the leaf is rounded off or is finely crossed, there is a practice of the Constitutional Court that a voter will undoubtedly be determined from such a electorate and that list is recognized. OK, it has led to a small change in the City Council, but this is not important for Zadar.

It is important, the Prime Minister said, « that Sime Erlic, a former minister in my government, convincingly won the mayor’s election and I think he will do a great job in the next four years for Zadar. »

Repeated questions from journalists Plenkovic said that after these local elections we have « very poor losers » who flooded Croatia with numerous appeals to the State Election Commission of the B.Sc. He emphasizes that representatives of these parties were not on the electorate, when the voices were counted, they were manifested on the record, but when they see that the score is a tight result, then some subsequent complaints invest appeals, so – if something, they will be.

Ratko Rudic had a fascinating career

Prime Minister Plenkovic on Saturday in Zagreb’s Lauba was at a ceremony of presenting a monograph on Ratko Rudic, a celebrated Croatian water polo player and the world’s most trophy coach who, he said, won a huge number of medals with as many as five national teams, of course with the Croatian national team, with the former Yugoslavia, with Italy, the USA and Brazil.

Today, Ratko Rudic is his birthday, so Plenkovic congratulated him from his heart.

He said Ratko Rudic had a « fascinating career », and his water polo road also gave a stamp to the great success of the Croatian water polo team, which, in essence, is the most successful Croatian ball sport.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Dejan Acimovic and thanked Boris Raseta who made a great contribution to see this monograph to see the light of day.
