On Sunday, April 27, the Estonian team of hockey won a confident victory over Croatia with a score of 6: 2 (3: 0; 2: 2; 1: 0). One of the washers was abandoned by a native of Narva David Timofeev, who at the age of 18 debuted in the main team only the day before, and after two matches in his asset – 4 points (2 goals + 2 assists), writes Rus.delfi.

More recently, the young David Timofeev showed himself as part of the U20 youth team at the World Cup, and today he is already scoring important goals for the national team, gaining 4 points in two matches.

“To play for the main team is a great honor. From childhood, I watched how men protect the colors of my country on ice and dreamed of someday to be in their place. Now I go out on the ice in the same link with Rooba and Burkov-this is for me great importance,“-the 18-year-old hockey player after the match shared his impressions.

According to a native of Narva, the difference between the youth team of the U20 and the main team is very noticeable.

“Physically it is harder to play here,” said Timofeev. “Of course, you can go left or right, but most importantly, you need to make decisions much faster. I think that this is why I am now playing here in the first three.”

The day before, David Timofeev made his debut in the main team along with Burkov, who also noted an abandoned puck in his first match.

According to Timofeev, there was no dispute between him and Burkov about who will be the first to distinguish.

“No, of course,” said David. “We always play for each other, strive to create moments to each other and help to gain as many points as possible.”

In the match against Croatia, the Estonian team began much more aggressive than day earlier against Spain, confidently winning the first period with a score of 3-0. However, in the second period, our hockey players began to retire more often, which allowed the opponent to abandon two goals. Nevertheless, the Estonians managed to answer with two goals, retaining a confident advantage.

“This was not the installation of the coach – to start as aggressive as possible,” said David Timofeev after the game. “We ourselves wanted to show the best beginning that we are capable of. In the second period it might seem that we had a little relaxed but then gathered. This happened in hockey. There were a lot of removal on our part, we also need to work on this – we’ll try to move away less often in the future.”

The young hockey player also noted that with each game the team adds.

“We are moving from an opponent to an opponent,” said Timofeev. “When you play in the same three, you start to feel partners better, you understand their actions in advance, especially in the fight in the corners of the site. With each game, it becomes easier for us to interact on the ice. Of course, the rivals will be stronger, but we will concentrate on our game,“ summed up Timofeev that left for Finland At 15 years old. Now he represents the Finnish team of Kalp U20.
