Plastic disappears from Radio 1 after more than 24 years
The NPO Radio 1 program Plastic will stop as of January 1, 2026. Omroep NTR Friday announced. The interview program about art and culture, which is broadcast four days a week between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., has been heard on the radio for 24 years. The program may be continued as a podcast.
« The makers of plastic have taken note of the decision of the NPO with great disappointment, » writes the NTR. According to the broadcaster, it is the wish of the NPO to use the broadcasting time Plastic Programming a new program about art, culture, media and sport.
The editors of Plastic Would also have come up with a proposal for the interpretation of that new program, but that plan did not make it to the NPO. It is not yet clear which broadcaster will broadcast the new program.
Plastic Won the Silver Travel Microphone in 2003, a prize for the best radio program or the best radio maker of the year. In 2007, the editors of the program – at the time of the Omroep NPS – won a tile, an important journalistic prize. The editors won that prize for a Memoriam broadcast about writer and artist Jan Wolkers, shortly after his death.
