The city of Luxembourg offers courses in ecological gardening all year round – led by external specialists. New gardeners are also accompanied by an urban employee in the first year.

The aim is to promote sustainable, community and healthy garden practice. In addition, it is possible to lease municipal areas for the cultivation of fruit, vegetables and flowers: there are 128 areas throughout the Grand Duchy, ten of which are in the city of Luxembourg.

Whether with depression and fears, sleep problems or stress and overstimulation: the meditative character of gardening, the concentration on simple, recurring activities and the meaningful acting act like a small therapy unit outdoors.

In the community gardens in particular, social contacts are also created – exchange and with each other do the rest for mental well -being.
