Piotr P. sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his children
Although the court of first instance issued the strictest possible judgment, it is not yet final. The parties have the right to appeal. Piotr P.’s defenders have already announced that they would appeal.
Warsaw. A three -month -old girl died in mysterious circumstances
The case of Piotr P. dates back to 2016, when the first tragedy took place in his family. In April this year A three -month -old Liliana, who was diagnosed with greedy pneumonia, was sent to the hospital. After a few days of treatment, the girl was discharged home. Shortly after, when her mother went shopping, the child remained under the care of her father.
When the woman returned, she found a dead daughter. The summoned ambulance found death due to circulatory and respiratory failure. Initially, the girl’s death was considered the result of natural causes, not arousing suspicion.
However, another drama happened less than a year and a half later.
The death of a second child aroused suspicions
On September 8, 2017, it took another tragic event. This time the five -month -old son of Piotr P. As the accused claimed, he entered the dark room, stumbled on the rug and dropped the child. The baby hit the floor.
The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died after three hours. However, the doctors had doubts about the version presented by their father from the beginning. The injuries that were found in the child were too serious that they could result from a random fall.
Opinion of experts changed the investigation course
It was clear from expert expert opinions that the boy’s death was not the result of an accident. The child had a cracked skull and rib injuries. According to specialists, it could have been hit by a blunt tool or with great force on the floor or piece of furniture.
Based on these findings, Piotr P. was arrested in November 2017. He heard the allegation of the murder of his son. At the same time, investigators began to suspect that her daughter’s earlier death could not be accidental.
Exhumation and new allegations
In February 2018, After the decision of the prosecutor’s office, Liliana’s body was exhumed. The pathomorphologist indicated that the cause of the girl’s death was a massive chopping, which could have been artificially caused. At that time, Piotr P. was charged with the murder of his daughter.
The testimonies of co -existing with the accused were also of key importance. Piotr K., who shared his cell with him in the detention center in Białołęka, testified that Piotr P. confessed to the murder of children.
Piotr P. found guilty of the murder of two children
The trial before the District Court in Warsaw lasted five years. Final speeches were held in January 2025, partly exclusive. The prosecutor’s office and mother’s attorney demanded a life sentence for Piotr P.. The defense requested acquittal, emphasizing that the man kept all the time that he was innocent.
Ultimately, the court did not believe the accused’s explanations. He found him guilty of both killings and imposed a life sentence. The sentence was made in the absence of Piotr P., who responded from his free foot.
