Pihtiputaa high school reached an average of 5.27 – the final certificate does not tell everything, says Rector
High school|The headmaster says that a small municipality in high school is a good ability to support young people in their studies.
The abstract is made by artificial intelligence and checked by man.
Pihtiputaa high school reached its lowest this year with an average of 5.27.
The Rector emphasizes that the primary school graduation certificate does not directly indicate success in high school studies.
According to the Rector, a small municipality in high school has a good chance of supporting students individually.
Low The average of the primary school’s final certificate is not an obstacle to success in high school studies, says Pihtipudas High School Rector Markku Piippo.
This year, Pihtiputa’s high school reached a joint application with an average of 5.27. In comparison of above The average of the high school was from the lowest high schools, which were approved by applicants.
According to Rector Piippo, 34 students have been selected for high school. The upper secondary school has not set the lower limit for its average, and in practice there have always been more places than applicants, Piippo says. According to him, there would be about 50 starting places in Pihtiputaa High School.
Last year, Pihtiputaa High School reached its lowest with an average of 6.92.
According to the Rector, the lowest accepted average may appear in Pihtiputa’s larger annual variation precisely because often every applicant is selected as a student.
Beep says he remembers several cases from Pihtiputa where those who have come to high school with a low average have cheered on their studies during high school.
« I have the experience that the primary school’s final certificate does not directly tell about the path or opportunities of high school or postgraduate studies. Many times there is growth during the trip, » says the headmaster.
According to him, the student’s own motivation and willingness to determine a lot. He states that with a lower average, those who come to high school must probably work more than the high average.
Of course, even a young person who started high school in Pihtiputa can, of course, say that high school studies are not suitable for him anyway, the principal says.
On a bust At the end of 2022, less than 3,800 people lived.
According to the Rector, the fact that there are fewer applicants than starting places does not mean that a small municipality is not able to have their own high school.
This year there are ten more start -ups than last year, says Piippo. There are also special lines such as the Volleyball Academy, which, according to him, draw young people to Pihtiputa across the municipal boundaries.
Piippo also justifies the need for a nearby high school by traditionally being able to be trained in Finland, regardless of his own home background.
« We need to keep up with this. We cannot afford to lose those young people who are not yet possible to move away from home at the age of 15 to 16. »
In small municipalities, many teachers teach both primary and secondary school. If high school were to disappear from Pihtiputa, it would not necessarily have enough work for professionals only on the elementary school side, Piippo says.
In the smaller In high school, there may also be a better opportunity to provide individual teaching for those who need additional support in their studies after elementary school, says Piippo.
« Teachers have time to teach and go through things very individual when needed. »
According to Piipo, helping a successful success in primary school towards high school certificate and possible postgraduate studies are rewarding for teachers and principals.
« If a young person gets into the dreams they wanted, after all, it’s a huge success. »
