Photo protest against Turudic: ‘He scoffs at citizens …’

A group of young people and students gathered in the Citizens’ Initiative « See on the streets » organized a protest against the Attorney General Ivan Turudic at the European Square in Zagreb. They said that they were a lot of crime in the Croatian judiciary and selective dialing of court proceedings. The reason for the protest is Mile Kekin’s arrest.

– This is a mockery. Mockery to all of us citizens. We have a state prosecutor who has long lost public confidence if he has ever had one. A man even called the Ministers of Sanader’s Government ‘HDZ’s boyfriend’. A man who was closely hanging out with Josip Rimac while a lawsuit was opened against her. Who was in company with Zdravko Mamic the night before the trial, in the court he was chaired by. We do not want a state where you must personally know the Attorney General to avoid justice. Because those who know him are avoiding justice. And those who fight against injustice become his targets. And that is why we are here today, to say: what happened on Friday will not pass on Tuesday. Not on Wednesday. Not even on Thursday. And never again, ”the protester said.

– What happened on Friday is one of the cases where we see that the HDZ has taken the judiciary into its own hands and that the judiciary is the HDZ’s toy. What happened on Friday also shows how young and citizens actually want to go out to the streets, how dissatisfied we are to what is happening and this authority, so we simply consider the state without opposition and without an independent judiciary becomes a dictatorship, said another protester.
