Tens of thousands of people gathered on Sunday at Nis at a protest led by students who declared « Student Edict » tonight and said that they wanted state institutions dedicated to justice and the interests of all citizens, a fair society and a system that « appreciate knowledge and work, not obedience and silence ».

Thousands of people occupied the central Square of King Milan and the surrounding boulevards and streets and lit lights on their cell phones in the « Clean point software » action to show how many people gathered.

The name of the protest « Student Edict » is symbolically associated with the Milan edict of Emperor Constantine the Great of 313, who was born in the then Nais, today Niš, and with his edict introduced equality of religions in the Roman Empire.

Today's protest was organized on the day when it marks four months since the fall of the canopy at the recently renovated railway station in Novi Sad, where 15 people were killed, mostly young people.

At the same time, with a protest in Niš, which began this morning and will last until three o'clock after midnight, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic gathered his supporters today in several cities in southeastern Serbia, claiming that student protests were falling support and saying that the government and the government would not choose on the street in Serbia.

Students announced the next major protest for March 15 in Belgrade.
