Two separate police interventions resulted in driver’s arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs on Zagreb roads.

In the first case, the 22-year-old driver was stopped on Ljubljana Avenue at home number 4, where police officers stopped him for traffic control. There was suspicion of driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs, which caused him to be offered preliminary testing, medical examination and blood and urine samples, which he refused.

The driver was arrested and brought to the competent misdemeanor court. Police proposed a fine of 2,650 euros and a three -month ban on driving B category vehicles, but the court imposed a fine of 1,540 euros and one month of management prohibition.

In the second case, the 40-year-old driver was driving a car of Zagreb license plates under the influence of alcohol (1.94 g/kg). The vehicle crashed to the left, crossed the opposite lane and hit a passenger car driven by a 48-year-old, moving in the northeast direction. After a bump, a 48-year-old car was dropped to a soft terrain and hit a public lighting pillar. The driver was slightly injured and medical attention was provided at the Holy Spirit Clinical Hospital.

The police tested the 40-year-old driver for the presence of drugs in her body, preliminary testing showed a positive result. The driver was taken to a health care facility, where his blood and urine samples were taken for analysis.

After his arrest, the driver was brought to the competent misdemeanor court, where, according to the police proposal, he was sentenced to 1,710 euros and a ban on driving a B category motor vehicle for three months.
