Spring has arrived, which means it’s time for general cleaning in the house: it is necessary to clean and refresh the rooms and prepare for the summer sun and enjoyment. But the refreshment of the home and the maintenance of hygiene in the living space you share with a dog, cat or other animal also implies use preparations that must not harm health in any way. It is not just about hair removal and food remains but also about the use of chemicals whose composition should be absolutely safe for pets.
Experienced pet owners know which products should not use because they are toxic. New homeowners or those who are not sure about choosing « chemistry » for the home should avoid: ammonia, chlorine, bleach, alcohol, phenol, formaldehyde, phthalates and hydrogen peroxide. The list of dangerous substances here is not exhaustive, as there are others who can poison pets. Essential oils can be toxic to cats, birds, and even dogs. And the software is not desirable near pets, so it should be kept closed, away from their paws. When in doubt about a potentially dangerous chemical product, read the label on that product. Most of them write « danger », « caution » or « use in a well -ventilated area ». If you must use one of the « forbidden » products, remove the pet from the home or space while cleaning. When you are done, wait for that part of the home to dry completely and ventilate the space for several hours before returning the pet.
If your pet needs home, use an enzyme cleaner. These preparations are safe for pets and at the same time break down all the harmful substances from the stool and urine of the pet. Non -toxic carpet cleaners include baking soda and white vinegar. The cleaning procedure is as follows: Sprinkle the soiled surface with the mixture and allow it to stand for a few minutes, then clean. For wooden floors, white vinegar and water are recommended. Baking soda added to boiling water is a great way to remove odors from pet water and food dishes. If you want a fresh lemon scent, add this citrus crust to white vinegar.
