Peter Neururer offers himself as a coach of Schalke 04

FC Schalke 04 will be there from summer without a coach – again. After the season there is an end to Kees van Wonderen. The Dutchman has already been the twelfth S04 coach in the past six years. On average, Schalke recently worn out a trainer every six months.

This makes it clear what Schalke now needs on the coaching bench: a resting pole that stands for continuity. A trainer who not only starts, but also remains. When reading these lines, every football fan should be clear that only one person comes into question – Peter Neururer.

Conveniently, he recently brought himself into conversation. Neururer, who celebrates his 70th birthday on Saturday, said in an interview with the Sports information servicethat the post would really irritate him. Actually, according to his own statement, Neururer only wanted to work as a sports director or sports director, no longer as a trainer. For Schalke, however, he would make an exceptionaccording to the 69-year-old.

With this, Neururer has fulfilled the most important prerequisite for Schalke trainers: he does not say no. According to Neururer’s statement, pictures on which he climbed out of his Porsche in front of the Schalke arena were already circulating on the Internet. Is the obligation already in dry cloths? Apparently not. Because, Schalke fans now have to be strong: said pictures are a brazen fake.

The S04 has not yet contacted its possible savior. Do the Gelsenkircheners really let this unique opportunity spread? Well, « unique » may be the wrong word in this context. Neururer had offered itself again and again in recent years when a trainer was searched for Schalke.

But what else does the man have if the club obviously does not recognize its potential. After all, Neururer, as a trainer, has an average term of one year and two months. And that is more than twice as long as coaches recently ended average on Schalke.
