Peskov: Meeting between Putin and Greenski is only possible if the delegations reach an agreement

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski could only meet if delegations reached some agreements in the negotiations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today.

-This meeting is possible as a result of the work of the delegations on both parties, after reaching certain contracts. (We) consider it possible – he said, Russian media reported.

Peskov said the two countries had agreed to exchange lists with ceasefire conditions and that their work was ongoing.

He added that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are ongoing and that they should be behind closed doors, and that those agreements are being discussed so far, Russian media reported.

Peskov noted that the delegation led by Putin’s assistant, Vladimir Medinsky, would continue to negotiate with Ukraine and that yesterday’s negotiations in Istanbul, held yesterday, there were no contacts between the leaders of Russia and the United States.

Ukrainian Defense Minister and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Scarov, confirmed after yesterday’s talks that the Russian and Ukrainian delegation discussed a possible meeting of the two countries’ presidents, Volodimir Zelenski and Vladimir Putin, as well as an agreed ceasefire and an exchange of captains.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said yesterday that the Russian and Ukrainian delegation of talks in Istanbul « in principle » had agreed to meet again.
