Personal Number: How to be integrated into ID cards

According to a statement from the Ministry of Digital Governance, the use of the personal number gives citizens the ability to use an identification number for all public transactions, which will cover all uses of sectoral numbers used today, such as tax IDs and AMKA.

The new number will be unique and will not change during the life of the citizen.

This will improve the provision of services and at the same time address chronic gaps in the interconnection of state registries, which have resulted in the suffering of citizens and the restriction of the effectiveness of public services.

The personal number will also corrected errors that exist in the main registries of the state (Citizens’ Register of the Ministry of the Interior, Tax Register of AADE, a National Register of AMKA-EMAs of HIDA SA, ELAS ID Register and National Communication Registry).

« Congratulations, first of all, to those who worked hard to get to the point today we can digital the personal number. It is a seemingly technical intervention, but I think it has a very significant added value to the overall modernization of the state.

In essence, the new personal number to be attributed to each citizen becomes the ‘key’ to unlock any transaction with the State. It comes and supplements the existing numbers that already exist, « said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, among other things, after the meeting.

The personal number will be granted through Gov.gr’s Myinfo application

The use of the personal number will facilitate the exchange of data between different public services, improving cooperation and efficiency, while allowing the creation of expensive and reliable statistics.

Personal number will be granted through the myinfo application of Gov.gr, where citizens will be able to form part of their personal number themselves. At the same time, citizens will be able to make the necessary confirmations of their personal information and request corrections in the event of deviations to be consistent with the information registered in the citizen register.

The platform is expected to start operating in early June.

The personal number will be automatically indicated on the new identities, on the rear, and will be the identifier that uniquely verifies the identity of the face in the digital world, corresponding to the identity card number that in combination with photography identifies the person in the natural world.

Digital governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou noted: « The personal number is coming to do two things: one is to help citizens who are suffering from the Greek State because of these spelling – metaphorically and literally – in the registries of the state, and the second register of the state, and the second.

The purpose is now only with a number and not with four different sectoral numbers, the citizen to be served throughout the Greek State, slowly and in the private sector. It is a cut, really, for the Greek public administration. « 

The personal number was presented by the Secretary General of Information Systems and Digital Governance Demosthenes Anagnostopoulos.

Over 1.7 million new identities have already been received

The meeting was also briefed by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoid on the course of the issuance of new police identities. To date, more than 1.7 million new identities have been received from their holders, with 371 issuance services throughout Greece.

« The Hellenic Police Crimes Investigations and Crimes Departments are issued each year every year, in all parts of the country, in all the prefectures of the country, in all regions of the country. We also call on these citizens who will be vacationing in various parts of the country, because the ability of the Regional Security Departments for IDs is greater, they could therefore submit their application there, for the sake of brevity and service there, so that their identity can quickly be issued. «
