Peevski and Chakarov: a brutal manifestation of the mastered state
And the MRF brand seems to remain in the hands of Peevski after Chakarov resigned as co -chairman of the MRF and the case in the Supreme Court of Cassation seems to be prejudiced in favor of the other co -chair, named by Ahmed Dogan as a « big boy ».
MRF-Dogan’s last chance of survival
Chakarov remains an independent MP, the MRF-DPS group decreases to 18 people and has a new leader, Parliament Deputy Chairman Hiri Sadkov-also a highly non-Charismatic man like Chakarov. But after the fall of Chakarov, even preserving the integrity of the group is still something because it means a sip of air to survive the donors – to the inevitable next suction. Inevitably not only because Peevski has all the repressive power, but because the MRF -Dogan is really derebee – in his favorite terminology. Like him, he himself, but the illegal sherbetlia who received election votes and hoops from companies (again in Dogan’s terminology) and who cannot fight even for their survival now, chased by the « scalp hunter ».
However, the big problem is not for the MRF, nor about whether and when it will be reduced to Peevski’s sole proprietor. And because it is an internal battle for the monopoly on an ethnic group of voters used to ensure corporate-political power. And so it is difficult to get a response to civil and political solidarity throughout the society.
Apathy legitimizes the conquered country
In its essence, however, this is another brutal manifestation of mastered state institutions that expand their own power. And the question is not whether the victim is black and worth taking her scalp, but that someone can use the repressive state machine in their personal benefit he wants.

GERB mayors under threat to be taken from below
Peevski began to conquer mayors outside those of the old MRF – like the mayor of Gorna Oryahovitsa, who was independent yesterday. Peevski is unlikely to reach out openly to GERB mayors, but the processes of taking them underneath are inevitable, similar to his direct influence in the GERB parliamentary group. This will limit the position of Borisov’s party in local authorities, which are key to the sustainability of any party structure. And this is another motive, except for the desire for a rematch, for an attack by GERB to large municipalities, which Peevski cannot take – like Sofia and Varna.
The fate of many other politicians is to enter controlled tracks
All political players from the other parties are directly threatened by the « scalp hunter »-not just by the PP-DB, who first fell under the impact of his repressive instruments, and not just his political rivals from the MRF Dogan, who successfully melts. They may not be directly scalp, but under the threat of being inserted into controlled tracks of political behavior. In the horizon of their survival, however, they risk losing their own political ground under their feet and sooner or later becoming superfluous and melting their parties.
And citizens are likely to erupt against Peevski, as in 2013, when he heads SANS, only when he really becomes prime minister, as he has vowed himself, and so far, it seems only one fiction deserving of ridicule.
If parties and citizens do not join for efforts to turn all policy into subordination of addictions, then Bulgarian democracy will be scalp while still breathing.
