Pediatrician wanted: to give away practice

Pediatrician wanted: to give away practice

The messages of pediatrician Olaf Vorbeck sound increasingly desperate. He has underlaid his most recent video on Instagram with blazing flames. That means: it burns. In his contributions, the doctor turns directly to all pediatricians. « The Moosburg children need you – please get in touch! » Vorbeck describes the advantages for a resident doctor: no night services, a freely planable vacation, flexible consultation hours. And best of all: “The city of Moosburg gives you a practice – my practice. Completely furnished!  »

Vorbeck, who retired at the end of 2024, originally wanted to give off his premises and medical devices for 20,000 euros. But because the need for a doctor for the Moosburg children is so great, the town hall has agreed to take over the sum. Even when looking for an apartment, the new help would get. Nothing has been used so far: the approximately 5000 small patients of Olaf Vorbeck stand there without basic care.

Pediatrician wanted: five interested parties, but no hits

It is a pretty practice, you can tell: it was furnished with love. 150 square meters, nice and light, the treatment bed has the shape of an oversized locomotive. Nicole Pfanzelt, responsible for public relations in Moosburg, has uploaded pictures of it, an advertisement in Medical switched. « If an applicant has children himself, we could even guarantee a daycare center, » says Pfanzelt on the phone. And yet: nobody wants the gift practice. « In the past few months we have had five interested parties, » says Pfanzelt. With a doctor it looked promising, but she had become pregnant. Another just wanted to help out. With others it failed due to the language barrier.

Nicole Pfanzelt cannot imagine that Moosburg itself is the problem. “As a city we have a lot to offer, are close to the mountains, close to Munichhave all types of school, more than 150 clubs.  » She could keep the advantages forever. Nevertheless, the young patients of the retired previous doctor with their parents have to go to the next largest cities if they lack something or they just need a routine examination. Pfanzelt believes that « as a city we will receive a mirror for what happens throughout Germany: we have a lack of doctors, plus the demographic change, the bureaucracy with which you are employed as an independent doctor. »

The new doctor in Moosburg could get started immediately

According to the latest figures for Bavaria's statutory health care, the Freising district is still very good on paper with 97 percent of the necessary pediatric care – unlike the districts of Kronach with almost 61 and Dingolfing -Landau with almost 66 percent. But as almost everywhere in the Free State, the pediatricians also work here at the limit or imposing stops – Not least because the pension effort for the individual child has increased in the past decades.

« I'm a mom myself, » says Nicole Pfanzelt. « That's why I find it so sad that nobody can find it. » She knows: For a routine examination, you can take long distances. “But go to Munich with a child with a 40 degree fever for three quarters of an hour? That doesn't work.  » But: “We no longer have a trump card. We as a city did everything. A new pediatrician would only have to put the key into the practical door and could get started. ”
