On the Bredabaan in Merksem, a 21-year-old woman was hit by a car on Thursday afternoon. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Striking: the accident happened in the same place where a 12-year-old girl was hit by a tram this morning.
The accident happened around 16.25 on the Bredabaan in Merksem, at the height of the Merksem Oudebareel tram stop. « A 21-year-old woman was hit by a car, » says Kim Bastiaens, spokesperson for the Antwerp police. « The woman was brought to the Cadix hospital with minor injuries. »

The collision happened at the height of a pedestrian crossing. For the time being it is still unclear whether the twenties or the woman was also effectively hit on that pedestrian crossing.

On Thursday morning another collision took place in the same place. Around 8.10 am a 12-year-old girl was hit by a tram. The girl was grabbed and dragged about 20 meters before the tram came to a halt. The girl was taken to the Antwerp University Hospital in Edegem. Her condition stabilized there. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office, a traffic expert arrived on site to map the precise circumstances of the accident.
