PAVLICEK: The Vukovar City Council is unlikely to be constipated on Wednesday!

Vukovar Mayor Marijan Pavliček, who is also the president of the Croatian sovereigns, said on Tuesday that most of the Vukovar City Council is unlikely to be constituted before the constituent session of the City Council, which takes place on Wednesday at 10am.

« We held a meeting with representatives of the HDZ yesterday, but we did not define all the details, and since the City Council session is less than 24 hours, it is difficult to expect to succeed this time. However, I am optimistic and I believe that we will ultimately agree on, » said Pavlicek.

He added that if the City Council is not constituted tomorrow, it will certainly continue to talk to the further conversations, because, as he pointed out, it is not for anyone to become a « city of the case » to anyone and to reach new elections for the City Council.

A new election for the City Council would mean six months lost, but also a few million euros lost through various projects, he warned, adding that his hands, as mayor, would be related to a number of decisions if he did not have the support of the majority.

According to him, the repeated elections for the Vukovar City Council « would probably bring similar election results of sowing that they would have to sit down at the table again. »

« We all have to be politically responsible for Vukovar and citizens so as not to block the work of the city administration with some wrong move. Citizens said in the elections, » Pavlicek said.

If the majority is not confirmed on Wednesday, a new attempt will follow in the longest one month when a new constituent session of the City Council must be convened.

The mayor of Vukovar is still explicitly explicit that the homeland movement cannot be part of the ruling majority in the Vukovar City Council.

« In most, they cannot be those who led the campaign and who apparently bought voices and tried to change the will of the voters, » Pavlicek said.

The Vukovar City Council has 19 members where Croatian sovereigns have six councilors, DP four, HDZ three, SDSS and DSS two and SDP and HNS each.
