Party Congress is becoming a rally: how the opposition in Turkey is kept by the state

The « extraordinary congress » of the main opposition party in Turkey is to become a warning rally today, making a clear warning to the state: not to reach out to the structure, leading the resistance to the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekamoglu and its actual removal from the presidential race.

The gathering of a multitude in front of the hall has become another target of Congress, while the Ankara prosecutor’s office investigates the legitimacy of Josel’s election in 2023. According to this investigation, many delegates spoke of « suspicion » how their votes were changed (the party leadership rejected).

The Turkish authorities and the large, the power -supporting media saw « confrontation » in the RNP after some in the party raised the question of whether Culchdaroglu should still be run, some of them started a subscription (it is not known if they were the people who were in the legitimacy of the Congress in the fall of the fall. Josel and the Party Assembly will be elected by 1,300 candidates (60 people with the most votes will enter into the assembly). There are expectations that some of them will be loyal to the « old Guard » – and this would affect the way the opposition would organize a campaign in the future and continued after the unusually long – nine -day – vacation for Ramadan Bayram last week.

The RNP is planning a rally in a different province every weekend and a rally in the Istanbul neighborhood every Wednesday.
