Partnership, contribution to increasing employee skills

Director General of State Police, Ilir Proda held a meeting with the representative of the United Nations Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) in Albania, Toshitsuki Kawauchi. Both sides praised the cooperation so far between the State Police and the UNHCR in addressing migration, border protection and assistance to immigrants, asylum seekers and people in need of international protection in our country.

Proda emphasized that this partnership has contributed significantly to enhancing the ability of police officers to professionally identify and treat cases related to asylum seekers and sensitive groups. This has been achieved through joint training and awareness activities aimed at improving access to international human rights standards.

Also, a strong mechanism of communication and coordination has been built between the structures of the State Police and the institutions responsible for managing migration, reinforcing the institutional and inter -institutional response to this phenomenon. The parties discussed further steps to deepen cooperation, as migration remains a complex and dynamic challenge that requires constant attention and commitment.

In the end, Proda reconfirmed the commitment of the State Police to act in accordance with national laws and obligations deriving from international conventions in order to guarantee rights and the dignity treatment of each individual, without any distinction.
