Since 11 a.m. this morning the traffic jamometer at the traffic center was in the red. Especially in the region around Antwerp there is a lot of traffic jam. On the roads on and around the Antwerp Ring were already many accidents today. Among other things, the A12 was completely closed off by a major accident at Bergen op Zoom in the direction of Antwerp. « The traffic jam of accidents and activities contributes to the higher traffic of the Ascension weekend, » says Peter Bruyninckx of the Flemish Traffic Center.
Also on the E314 there is a difficult passage of Leuven towards Lummen. There is more than an hour of traffic jams of step -by -step traffic. All vehicles must pass over the breakdown. At Bekkevoort a van has landed on its side. There were no injuries, but a lot of oil ended up on the road surface in the incident. The fire brigade is busy cleaning the track. That is the final phase for the highway is being released again.
The evening before the Ascension Weekend is known at the Traffic Center as one of the busiest pointed days of the year. « For many people, an extended weekend starts, » explains Bruyninckx. « Many then head towards the coast with the nice weather, although that is a little less today. » One evening for an extended weekend, the evening rush hour can be compared with the traffic turnover of a Friday evening. « We recommend following the traffic information if you still have to go on the track today, » it sounds.
