Participants of the OPS who engaged in theft from freight trains were convicted
The court in Tver sentenced the participants of the organized criminal community (OPS), who stole goods from railway staff in the Tver region. The OPS included employees of the dispatch service of the October Railway, locomotive brigades and train protection. In total, property was stolen for 40 million rubles. The real terms – from 7 to 9 years – received only part of the defendants, the rest of the punishment he had already sent away during the investigation and the court.
On June 2, it became known that the Moscow District Court of Tver sentenced the participants of the criminal community, which systematically stole goods from the funds that followed from Europe to the CIS countries. Depending on the role and degree of participation of everyone in the crimes committed, the defendants were found guilty of creating the OPS and participation in it (part 1 and part 2 of article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and thefts committed by an organized group on an especially large scale (paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 4 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The process in this case began back in October 2020. Based on the materials of the case, which was investigated by the Investigative Committee of Russia during the operational support of the FSB, the defendants created a criminal community to steal various kinds of goods from the Rzhev railway station.
The main organizers of the community were local entrepreneur and two unemployed, in the OPS they involved employees of the dispatch service, driver, and train security officers.
From 2017 to 2018, the OPS participants committed 13 thefts of goods according to the standard scheme. They stopped the compositions in a pre -agreed place, for which the drivers were responsible, then the goods were transferred from the wagons to trucks with fake license plates. To communicate with each other, attackers used SIM cards registered on dummies.
In total, 39 people were included in the criminal community.
According to the investigation, the damage from their actions amounted to 40 million rubles. During the investigation on real estate, cars and money of the defendants, it was arrested in order to reimburse the damage caused.
As a result, according to the verdict of the Moscow District Court of Tver, 11 defendants were sentenced to deprivation of liberty for terms of 7 to 9 years. The rest of the defendants he sentenced to leave, while they were under investigation and the court. One of the defendants died before the sentence.
Two more – the driver of the Rzhevskoye locomotive depot of the October railway Artem Egorov and the local resident Ivan Mitkov – concluded pre -trial agreements on cooperation, their cases were allocated to separate proceedings, they were sentenced to real imprisonment.
